The 9800EW is the eco version of Mitsubishi's classic 9800. Same matured micro-graphite core, but the barrel is made from joint-constructed recycled wood scraps, left unlacquered so the natural grain shows through. The print sits directly on raw wood instead of a painted finish. It reads as quietly different from the deep green standard 9800 — warm, plain, a little more honest about what it is.
HB grade is the everyday all-purpose grade: balanced darkness, holds a point well, takes a sharpener cleanly without chipping where wood meets graphite.
